The steps are the same for either color of eyes, blue, brown, green, gray etc... Do not use frisquet on any part of the eyes, it would be too harsh. I always start a portrait with a wet in wet wash starting with a very light coblat blue wash over the complete eye and then I paint the first color of skin all around. After the face is completed, I paint the different shades of the iris; a little darker on the rim and a light triangle where the light its. Then I paint the black pupil and the white light reflection. Then with the lighly grayed blue cobalt, I paint the shadow that the eye-lid makes on the eye. No need to tell you that every color application has to be very dry before adding another one.
Same thing for the mouth, I don't put frisquet on the teeth. I apply a very light wash of cobalt blue on the teeth and then the skin colour on the rest of the mouth. On dry, I then paint the inside of the mouth and lips with a light warm pink. I then paint a light cobalt blue shadow of the lip on the upper teeth. |
